Finding Sonam Gupta… Last post for 2016

by Madhupam Krishna

financial planning, Financial Planning in new year, new year

This year, the best and worst trend was … Sonam Gupta. When we were all gloomy finding cash rich ATMs and under the weight of empty wallets, the soothing breeze that came was Sonam Gupta. Yes, NaMo threw as in uncertainty but Sonam Gupta was certain. So before 2016 ends I wanted to find the Sonam Gupta, who brought smiles to millions.

Like an investigative Financial Planner, I devoted my last 8 days to find this missing Sonam Gupta, who was all over net and minds but not in front of us. I even saw Finding Nemo and Finding Dory to learn the special skills to complete my mission- Finding Sonam Gupta.

For me, it was like the question of the year- “Who is Sonam Gupta and why did she fickle? Bahubali & Katappa mystery is resolved but this one is still out in open.

Why I did this: I feel that Sonam Gupta is an enigma. She has many mystical layers. If she has not been faithful to many, there must be a reason to it. I just want to find her and ask why did she get in our minds?

So this is my investigative report:

Sonam Gupta First appeared online in Jan 2016,

She again resurfaced in Nov 2016, barely after Modi Ji came on TV and said “Bhaiyo aur Bahano…”,

And, then she was all over in the rants of heartbroken. Sonam Gupta in movies

Sonam Gupta in ATMs

Sonam Gupta at Restrobar replacing my Happy Hours,

Sonam Gupta International Debut

Sonam Gupta Space Debut

But all I could get was a “Jarvis” response, no body no soul-

It is on the new note so I included it as a valid evidence in my investigation.

But, where was this Sonam Gupta… ??? All around the world in 8 Days surfing and still no proof of her. I was lost – like her.

Was she really deceitful and treacherous? Why was she disloyal and whom she dumped?

Came today’s night, and I was looking at my evidence wall, where all photographs and notes related to Sonam were pinned. I was looking if I missed a loose end as I had no direction to proceed.

8 days of the search was draining down and with this grumpy thought I dozed off.

And here she was right in face to face with me.

“Are you the one… aa a .. Sonam Gupta, who is all over currency and the internet”? Only this sentence I could manage to utter.

“Yes”

The conversation with Sonam Gupta – one of the top trends of 2016.

SG: It is really a pity to see you wandering to find me even though I was so near you.

Me: What? Around me? How come?

SG: You did not recognize me either. Didn’t you notice I was in notes, in your legal tender, your currency, and your wallets? That’s why people call me prosperity. They call me convenience. They call me medium and above all, it breaks my heart when they call me disloyal.

Me: Arrree you Goddess Laxmi? Because what you describe yourself, we call it goddess of all riches which is Ma Laxmi.

SG: No I am not a Goddess, as I said I am a medium, I am a habit and not the end.

Me: What exactly are you? See I tried to find you as I could not understand you. Can you explain?

SG: Yes, I am not the end – money, I am the cause- management. See money is in abundance otherwise, why would banks open branches after branches. Car makers launch multiple models in one auto fair. People hang out in malls and crap movies make 300 crores.

But still why few people cannot meet their ends, get a good education for their kids, marry them to a worthy person, retire with grace, build a home, decorate it, ride a vehicle of choice, get the best treatment for themselves, give to a needy person and spend a bit on themselves?

You will love to read this too  What to consider before you invest ?

Hard workers, smart workers make a lot of money still face a lack of money or resources when they should be resting and enjoying?

Sonam was talking the language that I speak as a planner. What was she up to?

Me: You tell me…

SG: Because very few people have a plan for themselves. They do not extend for help, they do not embrace change and do not entertain hope. They were like shut down factories in 2016 and will so remain in 2017 and so on.

Come next year this frustration that prosperity is away from them and deceitful will be all over internet and hearts.

They don’t want to change. Take the instance of this currency event. After 2 days people were asking each other “how much you got”?

The next day they were enquiring jugaads from their CAs and Bankers. These guys also saw the panic and cashed it. When will sanity be realized and simple things will be followed?

Is this prosperity? If you have to hide, your money, your shopping, your gifts- is this definition of prosperity?

Above all, you have forgotten to sleep. You carry dark circles and wrinkle on the forehead. If this is prosperity, its better I am out of reach.

I was soaking in sweat even though it was freezing cold in north India.

Me: So what do you say? Why do people write about you on notes?

SG: Because they are guilty of putting me away. They do not track their incomes, they do not check what is coming in and what is going out, they either keep it too close that no one can help or they follow advice for the thrill and not merits. They don’t think of future and costs. They just live for today and just today.

And, when they see someone with more money… they blame me. They vent out frustration. They write SONAM GUPTA IS DISLOYAL.

And… then something was shaking my shoulder…. Hey, get up…shouldn’t we head to market or it will be dark.. get up ..you will hurt your back sleeping on the chair…

It was my wife waking me up.

This was weird… I know. I didn’t expect this but I cannot control my sleep and dreams.

Hey, guys… she had a point. Years will come and go, but the pleasure of living in a PLANNED YEAR and a PLANNED LIFE is all we all should seek for.

Here is me and my team at TheWealthWisher Wishing you a HAPPY NEW YEAR 2017.

Hope you guys had a great year and we will have another fabulous year 2017. Learning and making a better version of ourselves.

Do not forget to share and forward.
