Impact of petrol price hike [infographics]

by Radhey Sharma

infographics

Petrol and inflation – two words that can get the corpses out of the graves these days in India !

The news is that they are going to increase the prices of petrol once again. That too by an approximate Rs 8. That is a huge dent in your wallet.

I began by calculating how much poorer I would be each month and what it would mean had I saved that money. I extrapolated that to different scenarios depending on which car you have and how you fuel up. Let me know how much you are poorer by and we can sit by the sidewalk and crib together.

Pretty interesting graphics and very helpful who would like to plan their monthly fuel budget.

The downside of this infographic is that people will see only 240/- [considering Santro as average car owner] increase in their monthly expense and say, “let me continue going to the near by store to buy a bottle of soft drink in my CAR” :). Still affordable affair!

Well yeah, I did read this as hurting everyone’s wallet but I am not sure how hard that hurts.
For some, it wont matter much but for others it might pinche very bad.
How does it sound for you Vivek ?

Well the hike does look pretty steep but 250 a month is not going to change anything for me. Moreover I use 2 wheeler for daily commuting so the impact is even lesser.

I think hike is unavoidable and no point cribbing about it, the declared bandh is the worst way to protest

Sorry but I didn’t get the significance of the numbers 18584 and 37169 in the legends.
I get the point that colors are representing the legends but what’s with these numbers, are they random pick from the last chart or have some significance?

Yeah random picks to depict legend.
